Karis Davidson – 2015 Golf Queensland Junior Female Amateur Golfer of the Year

Karis Davidson enjoyed a very successful 2015, finishing as the second ranked player on the Australian Girls Ranking System with her numerous wins currently holding her the number one spot. As a result of her continuous effort and determination, Karis was victorious at the Queensland Women’s Strokeplay back in October taking out the women’s title. Another highlight was representing Australia as part of the World Junior Team in Canada in September, and this was followed by a second place finish at the Australian Junior.

She was a strong member of the Queensland Girls Junior Team, helping the State to be crowned runner up champions in the Australian Girls’ Interstate Team Matches.

Queensland Golf Industry Awards winners announced

The Queensland golf industry capped off a stellar year last night at the 2014 QGI Awards on the Gold Coast. 

The evening recognised the achievements of those from the Queensland Division of the PGA of Australia, Golf Managers Association Queensland (GMAQ), Golf Queensland as well as the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Queensland (GCSAQ). 

With 25 awards presented and over 450 attendees, it was a strong representation of the positive direction of the Queensland golf industry.

Golf Queensland presented five awards, including Headland Golf Club's Laurel Opray for Club Super Volunteer of the Year, Doug Klein for Junior Male Amateur Golfer of the Year, Taylor Macdonald for Male Amateur Golfer of the Year and Karis Davidson for both Junior Female Amateur Golfer of the and Female Amateur Golfer of the Year.

Other notable winners include Chris Gibson winning the coveted PGA Teaching Professional of the Year the Year. Redcliffe Golf Club won GMAQ Club of the Year. Keperra Country Golf Club's Gavin Lawrence took home the GMAQ Manager of the Year, while Victoria Park Golf Complex picked up the Junior Program of the Year Award.

Karis Davidson excelled in both junior and open company, consistently achieving top results at just 16-years-old and finishing as the second ranked player on the Australian Girls Ranking System. As a result of her dedication to the game, Karis won the Greg Norman Junior Masters and the Queensland Girls’ Amateur and finished 3rd in the Katherine Kirk Classic. 

Another highlight was her runner-up finish at the Australian Junior Championships. She was also a strong member of the Queensland Girls Junior Team, helping the State to be crowned champions in the Australian Girls’ Interstate Team Matches.

Karis Davidson enjoyed a very successful 2014, winning tournaments including the Queensland Girls’ Amateur as well as the Sunshine Coast Ladies Open.

Karis also had a number of top 10 results including an impressive runner-up finish at the Australian Amateur Championships, 3rd in the South Pacific Ladies Open and 5th in the Dunes Medal. Another highlight was competing in the St Rule Trophy at St Karis was a member of the Queensland Women’s State Team.
